Enter Ascall Seota…
Ascall is an Argonian Archer with resistance to Magic. I gave him magic resistance only because I have no idea how magic works in Daggerfall nor how to combat a magic wielding foe. In my last play through I couldn’t even do damage to mages and Daedra.
Ascall’s first day
I created Ascall once before but I died before I saved, so I had to re-create him. He’s proficient at using bows but didn’t start with one, he had to make due with a long sword.
Ascall didn’t have any trouble mowing down rats in the tutorial dungeon. Bats gave him a ton of trouble though. Ascall had to run away and rest 3 times when fighting his first bat before killing it. So far Ascall has spent 3 days in the dungeon mainly because he has to constantly run away and rest when in combat with bats.
Ascall later found a room with a warrior/archer. Took an arrow to the face, then tried to rush the warrior. The warrior slashed him with a claymore, bringing him down to 1/4 life. Ascall fled, only to get ambushed by a thief. After trying to run away from the thief he got stuck on a staircase with a bat.
Better luck tomorrow, Ascall.
I’m going to try to play The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and get through as much of it as I can before Skyrim comes out this November. I’ll be posting updates as a few different characters and logging significant events in my adventure. This game is probably one of the hardest games ever created.
If you’re up for the Daggerfall challenge and would like to contribute to this blog, Bethesda released Daggerfall for a free download from their site. If you run a Mac OSX (as I do) you’re gonna have to search around for a dos box adaptation. Just message me and I can help you out.
See you in High Rock.
